Posted by: Bjossi  •  Forum: News Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:53 pm

Maybe some of you have noticed, but as the game draws closer and closer to its first release, media is being released more frequently, and today we get access to a series of brand new, never-before-seen screenshots. The main focus of this new batch of screenshots is, obviously once you check them out, to show off more of the gory goodness that we only got a sneak peak at earlier. It is becoming progressively more evident that this will put BW's Bloody Hell to shame. What a shame. But it's awesome never the less.

But you know what they say, pictures tell a thousand words...

...so get your ass over to Runestorm's Facebook page and check the rest of them out!

You got comments, suggestions, criticism, anything you want to say to the developers about these new screenshots? Sign up on the community forums and make your post in this thread: The Crucible on UDK(Gore System). Or you can post your views directly onto the Facebook page, either way goes.

View the latest post A GORY Crucible update
Posted by: Bjossi  •  Forum: News Fri Apr 02, 2010 4:52 pm

Smell the iron in the air? See the red paint job on walls and ceilings dripping down?

For a while people have been begging for lots of blood and gore to be a part of The Crucible's otherwise lovely aesthetical appeal, and Runestorm might just have heard our prayers. This is another thing to add to the list of things where UDK Crucible will be superior to its slightly older brother who is a prisoner of UT3; lots and lots of delicious and...well...gory gore.

But there is no need to reinvent the wheel, here is a quote of BlackEagle's post:

Black Eagle wrote:
Greetings all, i come with bloody news!.. >:D

Progress with The Crucible for UDK is going well, several things have been improved, and it's becoming more complete..

It comes with a little surprise now, one i think you will all love.. :romance-hearteyes:

And i've taken some time to put gore into the game, with the help of SB, who made the textures.. :twisted:

So now the Crucible will not have to be an outsider to the blood filled gore of BW.. :whistle:

Here is a run down:
...............................
Spatter Decals:
Drag Marks:
Pools:
Body Surface Impact Marks:
Dismemberment upon, and AFTER DEATH!, THATS RIGHT, dismember their corpses!..
Effects on Dead Bodies(Decals, Particles, Dismemberment):
Stumps(Meshes Pending):
Explosion Blood:
Variable Blood Density by Distance:
Optional Particles where decals appear, allowing ceiling drips(Pending Particles):
Running Blood on walls(Pending materials):
Damagetype Specific(Shotguns have different effects):
Body Part Dismemberment strength:
Dissolving blood decals:
Hours of Gore filled fun:
...................................

You can check out some previews on FaceBook:

Runstorm Page

Enjoy!

As you can see, this is going to be bloody awesome. Even BW's bloody Bloody Hell doesn't stand a chance, even if we killed Al Gore over and over again with it. Aaaanyway, enough with those bloody gore puns. This goes to show how much of a difference a better engine makes, Runestorm can do what they previously could only dream about, and now we are seeing the offspring of their hard work in the form of screenshots, and later the game itself.

If you want to tell Runestorm how awesome they are, be sure to join our forums and voice your opinion here:

Let's start with Facebook, because I like to tease you all (Though of course you can go right ahead and navigate to the new screenshots, but what fun would that be?). Anyway, earlier this month, 11th March to be more precise, the ever-busy Runestorm brothers have opened up a page on Facebook. There you can be up to date on what's going on in development, both with The Crucible and projects of tomorrow, it would not surprise me if Runestorm are working on something big behind the scenes as we speak, time will tell.

But enough chit-chat, link to the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/RuneStorm/357440748092
And here is a link to the announcement thread, if you would like to compliment or discuss their FB page: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=75812

That being said and done, next up are the new UDK Crucible screenshots. But first I'd like to make a small note; if you missed the last news item, then possibly you have no idea what UDK Crucible even is, so here is a link to the last piece of news: The Crucible is going solo. UDK Crucible is the nickname for this project so to speak, where UDK is the acronym for Unreal Development Kit which Epic released not too long ago. Basically it gives people free access to Unreal Engine 3.

With tools like these what Runestorm can come up with goes far beyond our feeble comprehension, until they release screenshots for us fans to see that is. And here they are, arrived fresh out of the oven today. They are accessible on Runestorm's Facebook page which we discussed earlier. Go ahead and check them out! If you would like to discuss or give criticism (Both positive and negative are welcome as long as they're constructive.) then join the community forums and post feedback in this thread.

Oh, and just in case, here is a summary of this news item for the ADHD folks:
