When I buy a game I do look to see whos it mad by and RS would be at the top of the list

Definitely- BW and Crucible are the best mods I've ever had on any game.

I vote yes I think RS make games for being fun and that's the deal

But I would say also, that it does depend on the actual content of the game.

PR needs some one with really deep pockets

RS has allot of loyal fans
You could go underground
There's alot of member that belong to a lot of forums
You could start with a whisper campaign
And judge the responses and request for the game
I belong to 3 gaming forums X that by the # of members it'd be like the Sunday paper
that only gamers looked at

Oh man, BW with the UT3 engine behind it, crap now I need to wipe all the slobber of my keyboard. How much is the UT3 engine anyway?

An actual licence is about a million dollars- but with the UDK, it may end up free.

Also, the focus is PR, like Bjossi said- really good games like WiC ended up with nowhere near the recognition they deserved because they weren't advertised enough.

Allow me to fix that: 1,000,000 bucks!!! Isn't that the amount of cash they were handing out to the winner of the MSUC?

Well if you made the game with that engine
Then negotiate with Epic
You would probably have to sell it to them as long they gave you the credit and the engine
But then you would be in the public eye
And all the the gaming community would be keeping an eye on you
Then you could get some public backing

Might be an ez way to jump to the front of the line with out a lot out of your pockets
It would be all out after that. A second game would have to be ready shortly there after in your name
you need to talk to a lawyer but I think it would work

I don't know what EPIC will get if they do so I think they will get a part of the benefits

Epic would get the profits RS would the recognition and the use of the engine
All so opening the doors for supporters and contributors for a good cash flow
On the first one let Epic do the marketing all the PR and prediction crap
All that stuff probably cost more than the engine will
The gaming rags would be saying
"RS's new game BLA BLA BLA produced by Epic is a smash hit
RS is now the top up coming game design studios to watch"

That or come up with something really good with out that engine
And then look for a sugar daddy with very deep pockets

Or go slow
Personally Id use Epic and other people's money or go slow
Because if they go bust they still be around making stuff and I like there stuff

How selling UDK games works is you must first pay a $99 fee if you want to sell it (you can still work on it without paying any fee) and you get all the earnings from the game up until I think it was the first $5000, which at that point Epic takes 25% of the earnings. A bit steep, but considering the amount of work put into the engine that wasn't by you, pretty fair, if you ask me.

I may be off a bit on some of the numbers, but the deal works something like that, if I recall.

Yeah, i can see why the royalties would be so high, but it's a way better option than never being able to buy something worth $1,000,000!..

FYI, The MSUC was not giving away that amount to the winner!, that would really have sucked, given that we didn't get a place in the finals.

It was a total of one million over the entire competition, and the winner of the Grand Finals would get the engine license, and $50,000..

Which is a nice sum in it's own right!..

One of the main problems facing us, is Advertising!, you can never have enough, but we will have to find a way...

Advertising can be easy.

Hums the first thing is to attract attention from the game press, or simply try to talk to them.
